BAREFOOT IN THE PARK introduces us to Paul and Corie Bratter who are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco. Everything that can go wrong, does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start…
Bundle up and go on a hike in Big Hill Park
Big Hill Memorial Park was purchased around 1925 and began to take shape as a park in the early 1930’s with the construction of stone fireplaces for picnickers to use. These fireplaces can still be seen today along with the famous 90 ft. bluff on the West bank of the Rock River. The bluff had been used to hold annual ski jumping competitions by the Beloit Ski Club. Even though the ski jump is no longer in existence, the spectacular view remains from the top of the bluff. There are nature trails constructed throughout the entire park allowing for abundance of wildlife sighting.
