Turtle Creek winds its way through this recreation area, offering opportunities for fishing, hiking and cross county skiing. A trail meanders throughout the area offering frequent sightings of wildlife, wild flowers and water fowl. During winter take advantage of the groomed cross country ski trails offering five different loops varying in length from 4/10 to 1.5 miles. Free Admission. |

Rock River offers opportunities for fishing, skiing or a leisurely boat ride along its scenic banks. After a day of boating, wet your whistle or sample some tasting offerings dockside at The Rock restaurant and bar. The Rock's famous fish fry and hamburgers, dockside Tiki Bar and sand volleyball courts are a just a few reasons boaters have made this one of their favorite river stops. A sandbar north of Beloit offers a popular stop along the river, where boaters gather on a hot summer day for socializing, playing a game of frisbee or just relaxing. Put your boat in at one of the several convenient launches located in or near Beloit. |

The Beloit area offers over 30 miles of navigable waterways! Choose to paddle down the Rock River or Turtle Creek. The Turtle Creek meanders right through the Beloit, offering nature lovers an opportunity to see the quieter side of the city. A lazy afternoon of tubing is also a favorite summer pastime on the creek. Note: during low water times portions of the creek are not entirely navigable, requiring very short portages. The Rock River flows along gently through Beloit offering scenic kayaking and canoeing opportunities and a new canoe & kayak launch in Beloit's downtown offers an excellent place to access a quiet & wooded portion of the Rock River as it heads into Illinois. |

| The scenic Rock River winds its way through Beloit from its source at Horicon Marsh. Some of the species of the Rock River include Channel Catfish, Black Bullheads, Smallmouth Bass, and Carp with the occasional Walleye, Northern Pike and Panfish. Local fishermen may have their own special place to wet their line, but there are a few public areas to try your luck along the river. The Turtle Creek empties into the Rock River in Beloit from its source, the Turtle Lake in Walworth County. The Turtle Creek is home to such species as Walleye, Catfish, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and Panfish. |

Wisconsin law requires those who use Wisconsin snowmobile trails to display either Wisconsin registration or a snowmobile trail pass. DNR trail passes are available in Beloit at Cornellier's Superstore, 2970 Milwaukee Rd.

Beloit is for the birds! With the Rock River slicing through the middle of Beloit and Turtle Creek meandering through the heart of our community, spotting wildlife is not hard to do in Beloit. Watch an eagle nesting along the shores of the Rock River, or a Great White Egret perched on a tree along the river. Walk along the trails in the Turtle Creek Greenway and you’ll soon see a heron searching for food in Turtle Creek, or a Kingfisher on the wing.
Bird lovers from all over the country flocked to Beloit in 2007 to see a rare hummingbird.
