Fur Traders River Run
Starting in Beloit, you’ll follow the fur trader’s trail 6 miles down the Rock River to the historic Macktown Settlement. Joseph Tebo and Stephen Mack, both fur traders were the first white settlers in our area in the early 1830’s. This stretch of river is very wooded, scenic and quiet. You’ll make a short portage at Rockton’s Dam, and continue your journey to Macktown. When you arrive at Macktown, you’ll enjoy wandering around the Settlement, seeing the trading post and Stephen Mack’s home. We’ll pick you up at Macktown and return you to Paddle and Trail of Beloit, where you can stop in for a snack or refreshments. www.macktownlivinghistory.com. Cost is $40 per person.
