Help Us Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Rock River Trail!
The grand opening celebration for the Rock River Trail will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 10-11am at the Rotary River Center, 1160 S Riverside Drive, Beloit, WI with events held in both Beloit, WI and South Beloit, IL.
Events will be held in the Beloit/South Beloit area that celebrate the trail, including paddling, hiking, flying, biking, horseback riding, history and chocolate!Information tables and activities by: Friends of Riverfront, Visit Beloit, Rock River Trail, Nature At The Confluence, Skydive The Rock.
Events On June 3 in Beloit, WI – South Beloit, IL
7:00-11:00am – Fly In/Drive In Pankcake Breakfast – Beloit EAA Chapter 60 | Rock – head to the Beloit Airport before the grand opening to see the cool cars and airplanes while enjoying a great pancake breakfast! $7 per person.
9:00am – Group Bicycle Ride from Beloit Airport to the Grand Opening Ceremony. Stateline Spinners, Team Fur Bandit, Blackhawk Bicycle Club and Velo Club join together for this group ride (avg 10 mpg). All adult riders welcome. Join the riders for pancakes before heading out! Free event except optional pancake breakfast ($7)
9:00am – Community Paddling Flotilla – Launching at Armstrong Eddy Park and paddling to the grand opening ceremony. Head back up the river after the paddle. No RSVP needed, all paddlers welcome. Free event, must have own boat.
9:00am-12pm- Both and Displays by Visit Beloit, Friends of RiverFront, Sky Dive the Rock, and Rock River Trail Initiative.
9:30am- Horse Trail Ride at Happy Hollow Park by Rock County Multi-Use Trail Group. (Note: this is a horse owners trail ride, horse rides are not available to the public.)
10-11am – Rock River Trail Grand Opening Ceremony and ribbon cutting with special guests, Keynote speaker Nels Akerlund.

11:00 Kayak Camping & Packing for An Overnight Trip – Free 1/2 hour seminar by Rocktown Adventures
11:00 Community Walk on Beloit’s Riverwalk – head out for a walk to enjoy the beautiful paved trail along Beloit’s riverfront with Rock Trail Coalition. 1.5 or 2.5 mile loop.
11:30: Tales from the Trail: Q&A featuring 320-Milers and Other Overnight Paddlers
1:30pm Paddle Trip – Rock River Fur Traders Run – launching from Nature At The Confluence, South Beloit, IL and paddling to Macktown Forest Preserve. Community paddle is free to all that have their own boat/transportation. Rocktown Adventures is coordinating this trip and offering kayak rental/shuttle ($40) or just shuttle services ($15).
