Nature at the Confluence (NATC) is envisioned as a 34.4-acre park and preserve dedicated to connecting people of all ages and abilities with the unique ecology and history resulting from the confluence of Turtle Creek and the Rock River in South Beloit. NATC is within walking distance of downtown Beloit. The park will combine hands-on learning in ecology and science with recreational hiking, biking, boating, and agility in the form of a ropes course. When completed, visitors can engage in programmed events, explore special exhibits, participate in classes or just enjoy nature by canoe, by trails, or by bird-watching blinds. NATC will provide wonderful outdoor recreational adventures for area families and students and will serve as a regional destination.
The learning center is scheduled to be complete in June!
G5 Brewing Company of Beloit is a legacy project for a family of five Gunderson’s. It will be built in their hometown at 1801 Gateway Boulevard. Brewhouse consultant and nationally certified Master Beer Judge, Keith Symonds, was hired to help establish the G5 Brewing brand. The Gateway brewery will feature a 10-barrel brewing system, up to 10 regular and seasonal brews, and aims to grow by 10,000 barrels annually. The brewery and restaurant will collectively employ 50 to 70 full-time workers in a 9,750-square-foot facility. CTA Architects Engineers, based out of Montana, will head up the construction, which is a group that has built similar facilities in the past.
The microbrewery is presently slated to open in November!
4) Blender Café
This café, to be located inside the Beloit Public Library, is a public-private partnership designed to support job and career training for Beloit Memorial High School students, offering on-the-job training. Aside from a cafe manager, the business will be staffed by fifteen students from the high school’s hospitality program. The partnership also could lead to business students getting involved on the marketing side of the café.
The café is scheduled to be open in April.
